Dear Saints,
In July of 07, we sent our 1st prayer letter concerning our desire to serve full time as missionaries in Italy. It has been an amazing 6 months as we continue to take steps of faith to leave what we’ve become comfortable with into a life that has many unknowns; the exception that God’s Sovereign plan is unfolding!
Since our initial prayer letter, many things have and continue to happen. We went to Italy in November to spend time with Pastor Mark and his wife Renata. After much prayer, conversation and time spent with the flock, the Lord’s plan for us was confirmed. While in Treviso we looked at several apartments to gain an appreciation for Italian apartment life and are excited with what we saw.
We are also working with RE/Max to find a tenant for our house; this being one of two large hurdles that need to be overcome before we leave. The other is the visa situation. We continue to ask for prayer that God would soften the hearts of those at the Italian Consulate in NYC and that the Lord would lead us to prepare all the necessary papers.
We continue to seek prayer for our pets (dog and cat). We would like to take the dog with us if at all possible, but would need to find a home for the cat and possibly temporary housing for the dog while we find a place in Italy that will accept him. However, we also ask for prayer that someone would step up and take him if that is the Lord’s will.
There are several “house projects” that need to be completed before we leave. Please pray that the Lord would provide finances for those things that Bob can’t do and wisdom/patience for the things Bob will try to do!!
Pray for wisdom in financial planning and for God’s provision for the finances that are lacking.
Pray for God’s leading on what to do regarding transportation when we get to Italy.
Pray for the process of going through our possessions and deciding what to give away, sell, take or get rid of.
Ongoing Prayer requests:
- To be in the center of God’s will on this matter
- A greater burden for the Italian people, reaching the lost, a servants heart
- To learn the Italian language in order to share the Gospel in their native tongue.
- Financial provision
- An increased love for the flock in Treviso; Agape love
- To be effective laborers to Pastor Mark and the flock of Treviso
- To have greater faith and trust in Jesus Christ in all things
- Seeking wisdom in all areas of preparation
- Housing in Italy, transportation, logistics
- Trusting in Jesus; overcoming the trials and attacks as we prepare to go, when we get there.
- For strength, wisdom, love, faith, endurance to run the race with all diligence
Our sincere and heart felt “thank you” to all who stand in the gap through prayer on our behalf.
God Bless you,
Bob and Lori Scata
